About

  • Mona Prabhu completed her graduation from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, in Visual Communication with specialisation in Graphic Design in 1991. She has 31 years of experience in Design practice, with projects in the print media. Her professional work began as Design Officer at the The Times of India, Ahmedabad, where she played a major role in the redesign of the Gujarati Times of India. She Designed and co-ordinated pre-press work of Children's supplement WEE WONDER, weekly supplements of The Times of India English and Gujarati editions, the Economic Times supplements, and various Response Features of the Times of India. She worked with CERC, (Consumer Education and Research Centre) for design and production of their consumer magazine 'INSIGHT'. She cofounded and managed her Design and Printing company, and worked on innumerable design, corporate identity and printing projects. She spent 7 years in New Jersey, working with corporate and retail material, newspaper advertisements and promotional print material and also managed design and prepress for print material for major pharmaceutical companies in the US. She worked as Senior Adjunct Faculty at the National Institute of Design Ahmedabad from 2015 to 2017. Since the past 10 years she has taught in Design Institutes across India, such as NID Ahmedabad, NID Haryana, NIFT Gandhinagar, CEPT Ahmedabad, NIRMA Institute of Design, UID at Karnavati University, Chitkara University, Chandigarh and Ahmedabad University on a range of Design subjects. Her work and teaching assignments mainly explore Typography, Type Design, Fundamentals of Design, Colour, Research Documentation Process, Publication Design and Learning from the Field and Environment. Her personal interests are Crafts, Built Heritage, Vedic Astrology, Sanskrit language studies, and studies of Vedic texts.
