Design Talk with Prof Sunand Bhattacharya

Prof Sunand Bhattacharya was invited for an interactive session on October 7, 2020, to talk about the future of the Industrial Design profession globally and the possibility of educational opportunities for graduate studies in the United States of America.

Prof Sunand Bhattacharya is a learning architect with a specialization in design-based teaching and learning, holding 30 years of experience in sectors related to design and engineering education. He is a graduate of Industrial Design from the National Institute of Design (NID) in India and holds a postgraduate degree in Industrial Design and Human Factors from The Ohio State University.

There were several concepts and new ideologies that were presented which gave students a holistic view of the changing paradigms of this field. Futuristic jargon such as ?Generative design? and ?Optimization of materials? was introduced to help students to make decisions about ?what-to-do-next? as a stepping stone into the real world. The talk discussed the upcoming trends and techniques that the world is adapting in order to move towards judicial use of resources such as innovative developments of energy-efficient buildings, cars and other daily used products to alter the attitude and mindset of people for a sustainable future.
