The India Medtech Expo 2023 was a major event in the medical device industry, held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat from 17-19 August 2023. Organised by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India, the expo brought together over 500 companies from around the world, from large multinational corporations to small startups.
The students of Semesters V and VII from the Product and Interaction Design programme, Institute of Design, Nirma University visited the expo on August 19, 2023. They had the opportunity to explore the latest innovations in the medical device sector, from simple to complex instruments. They also learned about the current and future technologies in the field and had the chance to network with industry leaders and explore opportunities for projects, internships, and placements.
The expo was a showcase of the medical device industry’s commitment to innovation and its focus on providing patients with better healthcare. It also highlighted the importance of design in the medical device sector and the need for skilled designers who can combine creativity with technical expertise.
