Keynote Address by Mr Anuj Prasad

The 7th Orientation Programme of the Institute of Design at Nirma University took place on July 24, 2023. The esteemed keynote speaker for the event was Mr Anuj Prasad, a distinguished artist, industrial designer, and CEO of Desmania Design Pvt. Ltd. The occasion was graced by the presence of our respected Director General Dr Anup K. Singh, and other dignitaries from Nirma University. This event proved to be an inspiring and enlightening session for all attendees.

During his address, Mr Anuj Prasad shared insights into his personal journey. He began his career as an engineer in a multinational corporation. Yet, his genuine passion for design eventually led him to embark on a journey of innovation and creativity. He discussed his path of discovering and embracing education in design. In his words, “Design is not just a skill; it must be a heartfelt expression that originates from within and mirrors the designer’s essence. I firmly believe that impactful design is always soulful, purposeful, and meaningful. To thrive as a designer, one must truly grasp the power and significance of design.”

In his advice to upcoming designers, Mr Prasad underscored the importance of avoiding complacency in their work. He urged them to refine and iterate their designs constantly. Attaining a level of satisfaction and excellence in design requires substantial time and dedication. True contentment with one’s designs often comes after unceasing efforts to enhance and elevate them. He further elaborated on the designer’s journey, characterising it as an exploration of one’s creative faculties, which are seemingly boundless. This process involves an ongoing quest for self-discovery, with the destination being a dynamic milestone that evolves as one progresses as a designer.

It was both a pleasure and privilege to have such a dynamic personality as a keynote speaker. His work and words were truly inspiring and motivating for all the students and the guests.
