The Institute of Design had the privilege of hosting Mr Sudhir Sharma on October 19, 2023. Mr Sudhir is the CEO of IndiDesign who was invited for an interactive session and portfolio presentations by students.
Mr Sudhir Sharma is the founder and CEO of IndiDesign, a brand transformation consulting firm that helps clients across various sectors and geographies create impactful and innovative solutions. With over 30 years of experience in design and business, he is a recognised authority and a pioneering figure in the field of visual communication, branding, and design strategy in India and beyond. He is the founder and chief editor of ” DesignIndia Magazine”, India’s first international magazine on design, innovation, and art. He is also the founder of “India’s Best Design” Awards.
The purpose of his visit was to interact with the students, and also engage students for the Degree/Major Research Project. The session began with the portfolio presentations of the students. The portfolios displayed a range of projects in the area of UX/UI, type design, branding, space design, illustrations and moving images. This was followed by an open discussion where Mr Sudhir offered a glimpse into his own journey of working and learning as a designer. He stressed that branding is a multifaceted concept, extending far beyond the creation of a logo. He appreciated the students’ work and his words were encouraging with real-time inputs from the industry. He expressed his admiration for the films created by the students and appreciated the hands-on work in illustration design and animation.
It was an invaluable opportunity for our students to learn from a seasoned designer and industry leader. The students who attended the session were deeply inspired and gained a lot of insights into the workings of the industry, as well as the future work prospects.
