Turnitin (stylised as Turnitin) is an Internet-based plagiarism detection service run by the American company Turnitin, LLC, a subsidiary of Advance Publications. Founded in 1998, it sells its licenses to universities and high schools who then use the software as a service (SaaS) website to check submitted documents against its database and the content of other websites with the aim of identifying plagiarism. Results can identify similarities with existing sources and can also be used in formative assessment to help students learn to avoid plagiarism and improve their writing. Recently Nirma University organised Turnitin – User Awareness Program for all the faculty members. Senior PES Consultant Mr Akshay Prasanna, had conducted an online session on August 26, 2022 (Friday) from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
The following things were covered:
1. How to create classes, add students and create assignments and access the assignment inbox,
2. Understand the difference between plagiarism & similarity and interpret the similarity report and
3. Use of ETS eRater tools.
