Overview


The Institute trains and provides full placement support to the students. The placement model at Institute is a four-stage process, involving pre-placement activities, career guidance, and executing placement and post-placement reviews.

In addition to providing placement support to the students, the institute also facilitates training of students in the organisations during summer and winter vacations, project work for the students in the final year, continuous institute-industry interactions, alumni activities, participation in exhibitions, fairs, seminars and conferences, counselling of the students on job opportunities, facilitating industry visits and inviting distinguished speakers.

After completing graduation, many students aim to pursue master’s degrees either in India or abroad. From the recent batch of graduates, several students have opted for higher education, with some securing admissions abroad at universities such as OCAD University, Brunel University, Conestoga College, The Glasgow School of Art, Arizona State University, Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), the Royal College of Art, London, Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, Northeastern University, University of the Arts London, University of Minnesota, Swinburne University, and the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Learning through internships and apprenticeships takes place during the ten-week summer vacation each year, and this is a mandatory activity for all students at every level. Students undertake apprenticeship/internships in design studios, publishing houses, the retail industry, social organisations, advertising and media services, computer software companies, and the manufacturing industry, among others. The duration of the apprenticeship/internships varies each year. At the end of the foundation year, students apprentice for four weeks. At the end of the second year, they complete a six-week internship. After the third year, they undertake an eight-week internship with an organisation in their chosen area of specialisation.

In the eighth semester, students work on their Degree Project/ Major Research Project, where they collaborate with an organisation for 16-18 weeks. This project is pre-approved by their faculty mentor. They also have the option to do a self-sponsored project. Some of the organisations hosting interns this year include 11.11, Futuring Design, KTI India, Tectona Grandis, CEAT Tyres, Sandcup Design Studios, Three Dot Designs, Graphite Design Studio, Raymond Realty, Jumping Goose, Panasonic Life Solutions, Scarecrow M&C Saatchi, Safari Industries Ltd., Oro Innovations, Cranberry Design Studios, Fingerprint Collective, and Force Motors.
